Our First Workshop In Our Studios For 2017 | Be Present Workshop With Jeanne Oliver

Please email us at if you would like to be placed on a wait list if there are any cancellations.

Join me in beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado on May 26-27, 2017 for a two day art workshop.

Our studio is light filled and surrounded by wooded property that lends itself to exploring, creating and relaxing.

You will have opportunities during the workshop to also make your way through some of our wooded paths and find a spot to create.

It is our heart’s desire that your time on our land and studio brings you rest and dreaming.

When you arrive on Friday morning you will be welcomed with mimosas and a light snack as we find our places and meet each other.

All main supplies will be provided for this workshop.

Our day will be filled with art prompts and techniques to help us all be present and connect with our worlds daily through our creativity. We will create our own journals using rust dyed fabric, watercolor paper, vintage ephemera, stitching and more. We will practice contour sketching and watercolor techniques, stamp carving and mark making to create abstract and realistic images.

Each day there will also be time spent in the beautiful land surrounding the studio including our lunch time in the garden.

At the end of day one I hope you will join me for dinner at one of my favorite local restaurants (this is not included) or explore our sweet town and find the perfect place to relax after a full day of creating.

|Some of the women at my last art workshop in our front yard|

Day two will be filled with more creating as we take some of our smaller works of art and create one larger abstract painting incorporating our painting, mark making, vintage ephemera and stitching.

You will leave this two day workshop with a journal full of your work, new possibilities in your art and hopefully a new eye to the ways you can connect more with the world around you.

Our time will end with cocktails and appetizers as we say our goodbyes.

While you are in the area we will make sure to point you in the right direction to all of our favorite restaurants, hiking spots and antique stores.

Our town has been ranked one of the best towns in America and we have to agree. I suggest you stay a few extra days to enjoy the beauty of Colorado!

Space is limited. If you have any questions please email us at

You can register below or request an invoice.

The Living Studio Along the Danube {pictures + thoughts}

Good Morning!  We have been back from our big trip along the Danube for two weeks now and it is crazy that something so beautiful and special begins to feel like a dream when you need to jump back into normal life. I think we need a few weeks to re-enter regular life:-)

This was the first Living Studio that we have ever had on a river cruise.  I had a pretty good idea of how our time would go but I was blown away by the service, food, personal touches, art space, excursions and lavishing by the staff and their attention to detail.  If you are going with us on The Living Studio Along the Seine you are in for a trip of a lifetime and you will be spoiled!

I always feel like the most amazing women come together for our workshops and this one was no exception. This group truly embraced what the Living Studio is all about and I saw them time and time again showing up, getting out of their comfort zone and creating out on our excursions. It was so inspiring to see! From our many conversations I know that a beautiful habit has begun and it will be practiced at home.

My husband Kelly and our sixteen year old Jack was able to come on this trip. This was so fun for me to have their support, encouragement and to share this trip of a lifetime with them. To watch as Jack was seeing Europe for the first time was worth all of the sacrificing to get him there. To see his heart expand towards the world, for him to see that we are all not that different, to see kids his age listening to music he loves and dressing like him, to hear him saying again and again, “I could live here” and to know that our son now sees that the world is a little smaller because of this trip.  Kelly and I were once again thankful that we homeschool and that this was a new and beautiful part of his education that he will remember for the rest of his life.

Travel does that. It opens you up, expands your heart and mind and fills you with so much beauty and inspiration. I hope you will consider joining us in the spring for The Living Studio Along the Seine (there are only a few spots left).

Here is a peek into The Living Studio Along the Danube…

Our first four days were spent is gorgeous Prague!

Then we traveled to Germany to board our boutique river cruise ship that would be our home over the next week.

We would go through Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.

Look at our view as we made art!

Walking around Passau, Germany.

Each day we could all choose what we EACH wanted to do for our excursions. This made it so much fun to go on a walking tour, to a castle or a bike ride.

Here we were taking a bike tour around Linz, Austria.

After a morning art class Kelly, Jack and I stayed on the ship and rested, watched movies, got massages and made art. It was the perfect was to rest and get ready for more fun the next day.

One of my favorite days was bike riding through the vineyards and orchards. It was a magical day.

Then it was off to Vienna…

One of the sweetest surprises of the trip was the most inspiring art museum in Slovakia. In the middle of nowhere was an architectural masterpiece!

The trip to the museum was a special gift from the ship for just us as a thank you for bringing our workshop to them.

Our first glimpses of Budapest as we sailed into this exquisite city.

No photo will show you how incredible our illumination tour in Budapest was from the ship!

This was our last night together and it was the perfect ending!

I will be back to the Danube for sure!

The next post about The Living Studio Along the Danube will be all about the art that was created!

Playing Big: A Mini Course with Wendy Brightbill

Is there something keeping you from playing big in your painting? Are you wanting to push through creative blocks and create the kind of art you see in your dreams? Then join us for Playing Big Abstract Painting Class. This last year I noticed that there was a real disconnect in the art that I was making and the art I really wanted to make. For whatever reason, I just wasn’t painting what I really wanted to paint. So I gave myself permission to really play big! This class is all about taking big risks and putting it all out there. No holding back!!! Working on a large piece of watercolor paper, we will explore color, mark making, style and composition. Get lost in the process and create with abandon.

Come With Me To Italy in 2017! {get away, connect with your gifts, go on an adventure}

Cobblestone walkways, candlelight dinners with pasta that melts in your mouth, hikes to castle ruins with Lake Como and the prealps as your backdrop, dips in the pool, rides around Lake Como in a vintage motor boat, the smell of Jasmine as you walk throughout the village, the best espresso of your life as you take a break in the afternoon and watch the locals, late afternoon showers that cool the village down and the breeze blows through your apartment window and evenings of good food, laughter and wine glasses raised high.  Did I mention we make art too! Bellagio, Italy is truly one of my favorite places on earth because it is slow and inviting, the village embraces you like no place I have ever been, the beauty is hard to even wrap your head and heart around and your whole pace comes to a halt as you just enjoy the simplest and most beautiful parts of life.  To come to Bellagio, Italy and to explore and create is one of the greatest gifts I have ever given myself.  I know that if you give yourself the gift of Italy that you will feel the same way…

It is my honor to have been invited back by Laura McCollough to teach again (this will be my fourth time) at her truly luxury Art & Faith Creative Retreat.  This year my good friend Stephanie Ackerman and I will be back together to teach art when we are not off exploring Bellagio and the surrounding villages.

Come and hear some of the details…

*The $600 Deposit is Non-refundable and needs to be paid for each person attending the week long event.  After you pay the deposit, you will receive an email with the contract to look over, sign and send back.  This contract will need to be signed and returned for each person attending the retreat.  Then we can set up a payment plan that works best for you, either monthly, quarterly or full payment.

For those asking about the price to bring a spouse or friend who would not be taking any classes, here is the information: The weeklong retreat is a balance between excursions around the lake, enjoying beautiful meals together in different locations, some fun surprises and time in the classroom.  Therefore, the price for the weeklong event includes all the above for everyone joining us and the discount would only be for the classes they are not attending.  That discount will be $400 and will be deducted from the payment plan.

ACCOMMODATIONS:  If you are bringing a family member or going with a friend, please email me their names so I know who is coming together.  The apartments (and pricing) are based on 2 people per apartment. For those interested in private accommodations or would like an upgrade to a lake view room, please email me for those options.  If you would like to share 3 or 4 to an apartment there are a few large apartments that I can reserve, so please let me know that as soon as possible.  (There is a slight discount for this option as well).
