Finding Fall Home Tour 2016

This is our first fall on our new land and in our home and we are loving all of the surprises.

Want to know the surprise we are loving the most right now?

We have a huge apple tree!

We had no idea because we bought our land and home in the middle of winter. I have always wanted an apple tree and this home has THREE!

We have already made apple crisp and we are making another one today.

We will have more apples than we know what do to with so friends and local horses may be getting buckets of apples delivered to their homes and stables.

Another wonderful surprise is watching how the sun comes through our windows each season. It is all so new and beautiful to us. I feel like we fall in love deeper with this home and land a thousand times a week. We also were able to walk the land and clip all of the branches and flowers that we used though out the house for the tour!

I am so honored to be included in Finding Home’s Finding Fall Home Tour.

Laura has gathered so many designers and bloggers that I adore and she has done something a little different this year.

All of the homes are featured today!

You can visit all of the homes all at once, you don’t have to wait over the week and you can instantly get tons of inspiration for your own home.

All of the links will be at the bottom of this post and you won’t want to miss one of them.

Thank you Laura for inviting me back and allowing me to share our new home (I have also included a short walking tour video too).

When you first walk into our home this is part of your view.

Library and Music Room

This room is one of my favorite rooms in the house because of the positioning of the space, the huge wall of windows, the light, the view into the side garden and of course the gorgeous bookcase I designed and then had built by my brother!  We love this room and how much use we get out of it.  The bookcase transformed this room and it was one of the first things we had done in the home (because how long can a girl live with her books in boxes?).

If you are interested in ordering a large gallery wrapped canvas print of my art above our piano please contact us at

We would love to custom order one for you.

The Living Room

This room was the previous owner’s dining room but with a large kitchen table and multiple outdoor dinning spaces we thought a living room made more sense for our family.  The biggest thing we did in this space was add this fireplace that I designed. I think it feels like it was original to the home.

When we moved in we had the whole inside of the house painted (ceiling, walls, baseboards) Nano White by Behr and we changed out all of the lighting. That alone made a HUGE impact on the feel of the home.

Watch the home video tour so you can understand the flow of the house a little better (if you want).

The Kitchen

We love the beautiful levels of this home, all of the windows and the open floor plan.

The Family Room

I am only giving you a peek into this space. You will have to come back tomorrow for a special post just on the family room.

The Master Bedroom

We have never had a ranch style home before (even though nothing about this home really fits a ranch description). We are loving having our bedroom right off the living room and on the main level. We also have a fun deck off our bedroom with a hot tub that we use all throughout the winter. The stars at night out here are insane! I had forgotten how incredible the sky looks in the country at night.

The Back Deck

Off of our kitchen we have a huge deck that we are loving! It has become another room of our house and when the weather is nice you will find Kelly and I out here in the morning talking and having coffee.  You can’t see in these photos but you can see the mountains from the deck and I wish I could record the sound of the birds in the morning and the sound of the wind through the pines.  On this day that the photos were taken we were getting ready for our kids to have some friends over to celebrate the start of school.  We grilled out, placed volleyball and ate too many s’mores.

The Side Garden

This is the last stop in the tour. I loved this space from the beginning because out of our 7 acres it is the only fenced in area and I am a sucker for gates. What is a girl to do?  We have started filling the raised beds and we are working on a new cedar porch that will allow you to walk right out into the garden. My favorite part about this space has to be the view of the butte and finding one of the kids reading in the hammock.

Video Home Tour

I can’t wait to show you later some of the trails we have made throughout the woods on the land.  Better yet…I would love to have you come to one of our live workshops at our new studio here on our land.

If you love before and afters (come on…who doesn’t) come and check out the transformation of a large workshop/garage into my studio.

If you want to read all about our journey to this home and land you can read about it here, here and here.  We had no interest in moving and then here we are.

It was a year ago this month that we looked at that first home and all of the adventuring began.

Thank you for stopping over and joining me for my fall home tour!

Now, don’t stop here. You have to check out the rest of the tour…

Modern Antiquity {sneak peek}

Are you getting more excited with each sneak peek I post?

I know I am!

I love all the emails I am getting from all of you that are so eager for Creatively Made Home (CMH) to begin!

I have shared a peek into the “farm to table” style of Kimberly Taylor HERE.

I have shared a peek into the “do it yourself ” style of Jennifer Rizzo HERE.

Today I get to share just a glimpse into the projects and style that Sara Duckett (of Sadie Olive) will be bringing to CMH!

Sara has the incredible gift of combining vintage elements with a modern twist.

She has created her own brand by effortlessly combining her love of vintage, home and photography.

Sara loves the details…and it shows in all she does!

Her creative and decorating eye brings new life to ordinary objects.

I first discovered Sara four-five years ago when I first started blogging.

I was in love with her style but also how her photography drew me in and made me want to live in the moment she had captured.

Over the years I have hired Sara again and again for design work with my business and blog and have credited this union for creating my own brand.

Lucky you that you get to see Sara in action and learn from her style.

Here is a peek at the creative projects that Sara Duckett brings to Creatively Made (this is just a peek though)….

Sara will talk about:

*Her personal journey with her home and family

*Her design influences

*How she found her own style and how she began incorporating it

*Share favorite recipes and photos of her home

*Have a live, online discussion with members of the course to ask whatever they wish about her style, home, passions.

*Share 10 project videos in different areas that are true to how she incorporates her creativity and passions in everyday living.

A peek into her project videos…

Sara will share 10 project videos but here is a glimpse into a FEW of them!

Sara will show you how to take an image in Photoshop and create your own images to transfer to pillows, purses, faux grain sacks…whatever you can imagine.

(She will also give you an image that she has created to use in your own projects)

She will share the simple art of arrangement.  I hear from woman all the time that don’t know how to display and arrange their home.

Sara will show you step by step why she chooses a specific piece, talk about balance etc.

Sara will talk about creating photo walls and creating balance with your favorite photos and art work.

Sara is known for her beautiful photography and she will share a bit about how to take better photos and then follow it up with her favorite editing tricks and techniques.

Sara loves vintage fabrics like I do and loves to incorporate them into her daily life.

She created an gorgeous bumper for her baby made out of vintage fabrics and she will share all the little details.

Are you seeing that each woman brings something totally fresh and different into this course?

Isn’t is amazing all the projects and information that you will get out of CMH?

This is just a TASTE of what is to come!

You will have five weeks FULL of advice, inspiration, photos and projects!

The best part is that you will have all the videos available for over 6 months!

This is not including the project e-book and entertaining e-book that you get to download to keep forever!

Add to that the amazing new creative network we have been working on!

Creatively Made Home begins in 12 days!

Be a part of the network and creativity of Creatively Made Home!

We are working so hard to launch the new creative network on Monday.

If all goes well you will be able to begin connecting and creating your own profile page on Monday …a full week before the course begins!

Wish us luck:-)

Farm To Table {Sneak Peek}

I am sure you all know someone that you admire how they can make so many things look easy.

Maybe even effortless.

I believe that when we see someone in their element that is when we see an effortlessness.

It doesn’t mean they haven’t practiced or worked hard.

They have most likely taken their natural interests, read, practiced and grown their innate interests and gifts.

When I was putting together the other hosts for Creatively Made Home (CMH) I wanted women that were using their gifts to bless their families and others.

I wanted women with distinct styles.

Kimberly Taylor is one of the five hosts of CMH and I am so excited today to give you the first peek into what she will be sharing with all of you!

(Can I just add that I found myself smiling throughout all of Kim’s videos.  She is that adorable and real.  It doesn’t hurt that she is one of my closest friends).

Kimberly lives on a few acres outside of Seattle.

She has chickens, gardens, berry bushes, a horse, sheep and she makes it all look dreamy!

I admire so much of what she does and how she does it.

I love how much she uses her land and how she is learning to use this land to it’s full potential more and more.

It was an amazing reminder to me that just because I am not on acreage doesn’t mean that my land is not full of self sustaining potential.

Because of just knowing her, being at her home and even watching the videos that you will get to see….I have big plans for my smaller yard!

Here is a peek at what Kim so beautifully brings to the course (this is just a peek though)…..

Kim will talk about:

*Her personal journey with her home and family

*Her design influences

*How she found her own style and how she began incorporating it

*Share favorite recipes and photos of her home

*Have a live, online discussion with members of the course to ask whatever they wish about her style, home, passions.

*Share 10 project videos in different areas that are true to how she incorporates her creativity and passions in everyday living.

A peek into her project videos

Kim will have three different videos about harvesting from her land and how to enjoy it all winter long.

She will also talk about how to harvest seeds from your favorite plants and how to add to your garden naturally and cost effectively.

She will talk about food, herbs and flowers.

She will have videos on raising chickens and the different chickens they have added to the farm and the eggs they produce.

This is something I was dying to learn more about!

Kim will share some of her recipe staples and extras like ricotta cheese and yogurt.

She will also be sharing about a few of the special things they create on the farm just for guests to take home with them.

I loved these videos and know it will get your creativity going for yourself and your family.

Keep in mind that this is just a little peek.  There is so much more that Kim will be sharing!

All of Kim’s projects were really about using what is around you, simplifying your life and having a home that is always open to friends and family (and even the unexpected stranger).

You will love, love, love the lifestyle that Kim brings to the course!

I chose four women to join me in this five week, online course that have very different gifts so there is something for everyone and bits of knowledge for everyone…..but there is a common thread of hospitality.

There are only three more weeks until Creatively Made Home begins and we can’t wait to have you join us!

The website is new and the community aspect will be even better than before (and our community is what keeps people coming back)!

A few words about the course…

I wanted to create a course that celebrated what really matters in your home… and your family.

I also wanted to celebrate making life beautiful in the everyday.

I know that so many want to make their homes beautiful but feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start….so they do nothing.

I believe that everyone should be surrounded by beauty in their homes and that has nothing to do with how much you spend.

I think sometimes we can get lost and distracted with everything that comes at us each day.

Sometimes things can look so perfect and we as women may feel inadequate.

It is time to exhale and delight in your home.

It is time to open your doors because of what is inside of you…not what is inside your home.

Our desire is that this five week online course will change how you see yourself, your home and your family.

We are excited to make this course not just about the videos but also about connecting with each of the hosts and connecting with each other.

To read more about the course go HERE.

FAQ are answered HERE.

To register you can go HERE or pay below!

We are so giddy to get started.

Ya-Ya Sisterhood {or something like that}

I remember reading the book, “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood”.

I think every book club was reading it in 2004.

Who doesn’t remember all the moms on the beach drinking martinis, smoking cigarettes and lathering up themselves and kids in baby oil!

Just thinking about it makes me laugh because their kids were off swimming in a lake while they got tanked.

The pool looks a LITTLE DIFFERENT these days.

Hey, being a mom is tough.

Maybe a little more martinis and cigs would help the day go a little smoother.

And who doesn’t want a baby oil tan?

Kimberly and I thought we would recreate a little 1960s parenting for you at the creek.

FYI…no children or adults breathed any second hand smoke in the making of these photos.

Lemonade doesn’t really cut it as a martini but it was probably a little safer for the kids we were watching.

This is also a VERY good way to get every other mom at the creek to look at you, draw their children closer and walk away.

In honor of Independence Day we are offering all of our readers 50% off your order for today and tomorrow only.

Use code “freedom50” at checkout.

Have a fun and safe 4th!

Get The Look {Week Three}

Welcome to week three of “Get The Look”.

Each week I will be showing different women wearing clothes from my last collection in their own way.

You can see the previous posts HERE and HERE.

I am loving the outfits that each woman is putting together.

It is fun to see personalities come out in how people wear their clothes.

The first outfit is by Jill Hinson.

Jill has fabulous style and she is an incredible decorator.

I really like how Jill layered the Audrey French tunic over denim.

{Jill is also sporting a leather cuff from our shop}

The next outfit is from Courtney Walsh.

(Courtney is wearing the Betty ruffle tote)

I really appreciate that Courtney took the time to tell a little bit about her outfits.

She is a writer by the way:-)

“I took two different outfits. I did one in the dress with leggings and a belt and then I did one in something I’d go run errands in, or go get my kids from school. Jeans, black turtleneck, cute shoes and plain silver jewelry is 100% me…but it’s boring…so I think the ruffly purse really spices it up. It’s like, even though the foundation of my outfit is nothing special, the purse makes it so much more interesting (and cuter!) It’s like getting an adorable look without trying too hard.
The dress I would wear for something a little more special or dressy. Again, I’d put it with simple silver jewelry (this bracelet was one a friend got me for my book launch and I love it!)…it’s totally understated, but I think that kind of classic look is more me.”.

Courtney looks great belting the Louise dress/tunic and wearing it over leggings.

I recently wrote about Courtney and her new novel HERE.

Lara Blair is next wearing the Louise dress/tunic.

Can you tell she is a professional photographer?

I love, love, love the leg warmers peeking up from her boots!

It makes me smile to see Lara pairing the tunic with a red scarf.

Whenever I see something red…I think of Lara.

I am a little giddy to show you the next photos because she is so cute and LITTLE.

I adore seeing little ones in anything from my Little Jeanne line.

Last week I showed you the outfit put together by Tracey Leber.

This week I get to show you photos of one of Tracey’s beautiful daughters.

Caighton is wearing the Lila Peasant Dress.

Could she be any cuter!

I smile every time I see these photos and her little horsey purse and cowgirl boots.

Thank you Caighton for being such a beautiful model:-).

Thank you to all the beautiful women that allowed me to include them in this week’s series!

Please submit photos to us of YOU wearing our clothes.
