Book of Trees Begins On Monday!

***Class begins on Monday***

We are so thrilled to announce that author and mixed media and collage art professor Roxanne Evans Stout is offering her newest online course on our creative network! No matter what season it is right now in your neck of the woods you will not want to miss Book of Trees! Handmade books, stitching, stamp making, collage and more.

Here is the first peek into the video content…

Book of Trees

In this class, we will delve wholeheartedly into the theme of trees and create a unique mixed media artist book that you will treasure forever!

I have always loved trees. As a little girl, I would sit under a large eucalyptus tree on the front lawn of our apartment in Santa Monica, California. I would read or work in my journal, writing, and drawing… even making nature observations- things I still love. Back then I longed to live in the country surrounded by trees. Now I live in a small country town in Oregon, and my family and I have planted many trees on our land and watched them grow and thrive alongside us.

The gifts a tree can give are endless… their beauty, their strength and resilience, the way they provide us food and homes for wildlife, and the way they clean our air.

Won’t you join me as I guide and inspire you in the making of a handmade book… inspired by and celebrating your connection to trees?

Together we will collage with papers and fabrics, create textures and layers, and play with color. We will carve and print our own stamps and use images and quotes on the pages of our books. We will stitch and attach beautiful treasures from nature with threads and wire.

I will share with you my creative processes and favorite techniques that will add magic to your pages and I’ll share writing prompts to further your journey of honoring trees.

You will see how… day by day and moment by moment…your handmade book will evolve into a rich compilation of pages that is your very own Book of Trees.

Meet Roxanne Evans Stout

I live and create in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The mountains, the river lands and the wildlife that surround my home are my constant inspiration and show up in all of my creations in some way or another.

I teach workshops internationally and my work has been shown and hangs in homes throughout the world. I’m very honored to have been published in many wonderful books and magazines.

I also teach online workshops that have been enjoyed by hundreds of artists and art lovers. And I am an Adjunct Professor at Oregon Institute of Technology where I teach Mixed Media Art and Art Journaling.

I believe that when we make art we are telling our own stories, and love watching them immerge, both in my own work and the work of others. Through my art, I would like to convey the feeling of connecting with nature and humanity, timelessness and hope. I especially love the Book Arts, Collage and Mixed Media. As an artist, I am constantly learning and growing. Art is my passion, my love, and my soul.

Teaching enables me to share my passion…nothing makes me happier than helping my students through their own process of creativity. My goal is to help you find your magic!

My book: Storytelling with Collage, was published in March of 2016 by North Light Books. And my newest book, Dancing on Raindrops was just released July 2017.

Gorgeous Work Being Created in Paint Your Town!

I would love to take a moment to share the gorgeous work being created in my online course Paint Your Town: Mixed Media Urban Landscapes. It is truly blowing me away!

It is never my intention to teach other artists how to create art like me but to take techniques and make them their own.  The artists in this course are doing just that!

I am so moved by how they took techniques and prompts and then with connecting with their world they made them their own. The most beautiful part is how they are all showing up and capturing the life in front of them! Bravo!

The heart behind this course was to encourage other creatives to not wait for a special trip or an art retreat to connect with the world around them. When I reflected on some of my favorite artists the truth was that they may have been inspired by a special trip or an art friend but the body of their work was created by PAINTING THEIR TOWN, THEIR FRIENDS, THEIR HOMES, THEMSELVES! Isn’t that encouraging and inspiring!

Come and get a GLIMPSE into the art being created within the online workshop by the students…

Paint Your Town: Mixed Media Urban Landscapes Course Trailer

Here is peek into the content of the course…

Sometimes we get to be wild explorers and travel far away, other times we can connect with other creatives not far from home and at other times we have the joy of hunkering down right where we live and creating among our day to day life.  Each one of these are life giving and creative building travels.

I love that my travels have allowed me to build beautiful new friendships, sketch among stained glass windows and old wooden pews, sip espresso as I watch the locals pass me by and learn to get out of my comfort zone and create wherever I go.

I also love that it has taught me to find the beauty in the ordinary and familiar. This is the practice that has grown me most as an artist and has allowed me to practice daily.

In Paint Your Town | Mixed Media Urban Landscapes we will become tourists in our own towns and open our eyes to the photography, sketching, architecture, people, cafes, painting, connecting, history and beauty right in front of us.

In this class we will create abstract landscapes, work with sketching and watercolors, collage, image transfers, charcoal sketches and create mini works of art to create our own Paint Your Town journals when we are done.

The heart behind my art and classes is to encourage practice, use what you have and to create wherever you go. I hope you will join me!  This will be the fall that your town becomes your favorite travel destination!

This online art workshop has over 20 videos, 7 1/2 hours worth of content and lifetime* access to the content.

If you like the crunch of leaves underfoot {peek into Woodland Girls}

It is way past my bedtime but I couldn’t go to bed without sharing my brand new art course that begins tomorrow (officially today).

Fall is my favorite time of the year because of the crispness in the air, the crunch of the leaves under foot, the bending of the golden grasses and the colors that are changing all around me.

Each fall I find a heightened sense of creativity and a pull into my studio unlike any other time of the year.

I think it is the gathering that fall brings.

Fall brings people around your table, leaves collected on walks, feathers pinned down in your journal, pine cones piled in a bowl on your table and long walks where your thoughts are more likely to wander.

Fall also brings me outside more to create and encourages my love of art with my love of nature.

Welcome to Woodland Girls {and other natural curiosities}!

Below you will see a glimpse into the mini course content.

This course is a one week course that is instantly available.

The course will be instantly available on October 27th and the content will be available for one year.

The registration price is $30
