Winners Have Been Announced For Our First Live Workshop {Yes, I said Winners}

We recently asked you to enter {or enter for someone else} for one free spot to our SOLD OUT first live workshop in our new studio.

We received hundreds and hundreds of entries!

We are a few days late of announcing the winner but it was a bigger undertaking than we planned. So sorry for the delay.

We read each entry and with laughter, tears and sometimes a heavy heart we have chosen not one but THREE winners!

We couldn’t choose just one winner with so much tenderness, vulnerability and love coming at us.

The three women have been contacted and we won’t be writing their names here to allow them privacy if they so choose.

BUT we wanted to also announce that we have opened up three more spots for the retreat because of the huge response!

For those of you that didn’t get a spot the first time I hope this is a huge blessing.

Thank you for lavishing us with your signups and excitement over this new adventure.

You can read all of the details below…

It is with a grateful heart, a little bit of butterflies and a whole lot of excitement that we are announcing that registration is now open for our first workshop in our new studio!

Join me in beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado on June 24-25, 2016 for a two day art mixed media and art journaling workshop.

Our new studio is light filled and surrounded by wooded property that lends itself to exploring, creating and relaxing.

You will have opportunities during the workshop to also make your way through some of our wooded paths and find a spot to create.

It is our heart’s desire that your time on our land and studio brings you rest and dreaming.

When you arrive on Friday morning you will be welcomed with mimosas and a light snack as we find our places and meet each other.

All main supplies will be provided for this workshop.

Our days will be filled with mixed media techniques, journal making, exploring charcoals, image transfers, storytelling, collage, art prompts, collaborations, portraits and more.

Each day there will also be time spent in the beautiful land surrounding the studio including our lunch time in the garden.

At the end of day one I hope you will join me for dinner at one of my favorite local restaurants (this is not included) or explore our sweet town and find the perfect place to relax after a full day of creating.

Day two will be filled with more creating as we explore our own stories, patterns, mark making and symbolism in our art.

You will leave this two day workshop with a journal full of your work, new possibilities in your art and hopefully a new eye to the story you can tell in your creativity.

Our time will end with cocktails and appetizers as we say our goodbyes.

While you are in the area we will make sure to point you in the right direction to all of our favorite restaurants, hiking spots and antique stores.

Our town has been ranked one of the best towns in America and we have to agree. I suggest you stay a few extra days to enjoy the beauty of Colorado!

Space is limited. If you have any questions about the workshop please do not hesitate to contact us at contact@jeanneoliverdesigns.com

We Would Like To Give Away One Spot To Our SOLD OUT Workshop! {Our Way To Say Thank You}

How do we celebrate and say “thank you” all at once?

Our upcoming workshop in our new studio is SOLD OUT (thank you, thank you) and we want to celebrate that but also give a gift to one of you.

We know that it is a luxury to be able to go to a retreat. It is the sacrifice of time and resources to give yourself the gift of an art retreat.

We also feel like this studio, home and land has been such an extravagant gift to us and we want to share it.

We want to give one person the gift of our two day workshop. This will be two days of creating, exploring, unraveling your own story, learning new techniques, beautiful and healthy foods, time with other creatives and the time to go off and be still on our land.

If you or someone you know could use this gift please email us at contact@jeanneoliverdesigns.com and tell us a little bit about the person you would like to see win this two day workshop on our new property.

This workshop is open to teenagers and older. If you know of someone that needs to be blessed with two days of creativity and exploring the story they have inside of them we would love to hear about them.

This is for the workshop only ( $495 value) and does not include airfare, lodging, car rental etc.

If you are interested in being on the wait list for the retreat please email us at contact@jeanneoliverdesigns.com.

We will contact the winner of the two day art workshop by March 24, 2016.

Sneak Peek of Week Two {Reflections: Paint Your Story}

All of my courses come from an authentic place of walking through something, discovery and/or personal growth.

One of the biggest lessons I learned creatively in 2015 was that it was time to really tell my story. To hold nothing back and to start letting it spill all over the page. There is art I have never shared and maybe art I will choose not to share. That is your freedom also. Getting your story out and letting it guide your creative process will change your creative heart and the art that you produce.

Your own authentic art is only a story away!

Here is a sneak peek into WEEK ONE!

Here is a sneak peek into WEEK TWO!

***

Join me for a two week art journaling online course all about unraveling your own story and creating authentic art that only you can tell.

When I started to see my own stories as being meaningful and significant my art began to change. When I could look back and find my own timeline and defining moments I was able to start digging deeper as an artist and my creating became more of a time of remembering, honoring, forgiving, healing and celebrating. It made me more intentional about where I wanted to go creatively and how I wanted to share it.

Reflections Trailer Video

If you think your story isn’t good enough…you are mistaken.

If you are afraid to tell your story…maybe it is time to find freedom

If you have never told your story…it is time.

If you want to create authentic art that no one else can create…let’s get started.

Some of the techniques being taught: sketching, acrylic painting, charcoal, ink, image transfers, portraits, watercolors, abstract sketching and painting, collage and more.

I will be leading this two week online workshop but I have asked some of my favorite people to join me and share how they document their own authentic stories!

Come and meet the incredible line up of artists!

Junelle Jacobsen brings her love of nature, photography, faith and animals into her colorful creations. She is a mixed media artist and popular teacher.

Cathy Walters is a photographer and mixed media artist. Her animal paintings have caught the eye of many collectors and popular shops. Her newest journey has lead her into art journaling to document daily highs and lows.

Stephanie Ackerman fills her pages with stitching, doodles, watercolors and her signature lettering. Her heart is to connect with women and to share her faith.

Sheila Atchley is a mixed media artist and jewelry designer with a heart for family, faith and women.

Reflections: Paint Your Story

Join me for a two week art journaling online course all about unraveling your own story and creating authentic art that only you can tell.

When I started to see my own stories as being meaningful and significant my art began to change.  When I could look back and find my own timeline and defining moments I was able to start digging deeper as an artist and my creating became more of a time of remembering, honoring, forgiving, healing and celebrating.  It made me more intentional about where I wanted to go creatively and how I wanted to share it.

If you think your story isn’t good enough…you are mistaken.

If you are afraid to tell your story…maybe it is time to find freedom

If you have never told your story…it is time.

If you want to create authentic art that no one else can create…let’s get started.

This two week online course is $48 with lifetime* access.

Beginning on February 15th is a follow up to the popular Scribble Art with Julie Johnson.

Making Art Sing: Values, Shapes and Lines

I have found wonderful and new techniques in my studio this fall.  We are not going to lose the basics of drawing. Learning the measuring is important in drawing.  But how about drawing on vellum and painting with drawing materials!  Really we use only a wet brush.  Fun and more fun!   Join me, as we get lost in learning about drawing.   I love to talk and explain my purpose for doing something as you watch from my shoulder.  Yes, you are that close up in seeing the marks and strokes I am making while I demo and video from a vertical easel.

This one week online course has recently opened for registration and has the early registration price of $29.98 with lifetime* access.

Registration has just opened for Danielle Donaldson’s newest watercolor course All Creatives Lovely and Small!

This course will begin on March 14th.

Ellies, pups and bunnies, oh my! One whole week of online creative goodness! We will start off our week with a good dose of danielle-ish color theory. This isn’t your everyday color-wheel stuff. As a matter of fact, it is kind of the opposite. You’ll learn how to work with color in a whole new way. You’ll find your very own colorful voice with a series of simple exercises that will not only build your creative signature but seriously boost your watercolor confidence. Next we’ll pick up our mechanical pencils and illustrate some quirky and goodness-filled animal friends. You’ll learn how to break down their bits and pieces and then reassemble them in a bunch of different ways. And then we’ll add soft, yummy layers of color and delicate details. We’ll wrap up our week by building a lovely, layered block of patterned paper, snippets of ribbon and a word or two to give our four-legged friend a place to perch.

This one week course has the current early registration price of $32 with lifetime* access.

Registration has opened for Elements of Clay with Alissa Millsap!

This course will begin on February 29th.

Do you have childhood memories of making mud pies or building sandcastles?

Maybe you loved creating something out of playdoh, wishing you could keep them forever?

In Elements of clay, I will be showing you several projects using air-dry paper clay.

No kiln needed!

Each project is inspired by nature, as well as the hope of new beginnings that come in the spring. Each project has a bohemian flair and style. I doesn’t matter if you worked with clay before or have never experienced creating a sculpture, it is my wish that you will be inspired to try something new. I hope you will join me on this journey as we explore the elements of clay.

I Don’t Only See Myself

Five years ago Cathy Walters took my business head shots.

Five years.

You know when you keep meaning to do certain things and the time just slips away!?

I thought my business deserved more than selfies taken in the car.

True.

Cathy was over in December and was kind enough to capture some new shots.

When I first saw the photos I instantly saw my mom, my sister, Aunt Jeannette, Aunt Beverly and Aunt Malinda.

I saw them in my chin, eyes and smiles.

I may feel inside like I am 28 but the lines around my eyes tell a different story.

I see a life that is being lived.

I see laugh lines.

I see wisdom that I did not have 15 years ago.

I see some of the women I love most in the world…in this face.

Thank you Cathy for the new profile photos and for helping me see so many faces reflected back at me.

My mom is on the far right and my three amazing aunts.

****

Don’t forget to take a minute to answer a few questions in my survey.

You may even win a $100 Anthro gift card:-)
