Start 2017 with Wild Awakening | Painting Big With Expressive Freedom. Jeanne Oliver is teaching this fun and expressive online course.

Join me for a two week painting and mixed media course all about painting bigger, finding creative freedom, telling your story like never before, breaking out of your comfort zone and creating art that you have dreamed about creating.

When I started to honor my own story and to find the marks, symbols, palette and strokes that resonated with me I started making art that brought joy like never before.  I felt free.  It truly became a creative awakening.

I will share how I take ideas from sketches to the canvas and how to start when you don’t have any ideas at all.  I will teach how to stretch your own canvases and never be limited by the size of your art again. We will incorporate huge image transfers, collage and painting, vintage ephemera, creative substrates and projector work. We will make bold marks and let creativity lead us.

We will take all of the ideas you already have or that are just under the surface and bring them to life in a whole new way.

We will create using abstract storytelling, figures and even still life.  We will incorporate movement and marks that I know will bring new growth to your work too.

You can watch the course trailer below…

The next course on our creative network in 2017 is Radiant Watercolor Portraits with Christie Drahnak!

“Watercolor is a swim in the metaphysics of life… a mirror of one’s own character. Let it be unpredictable and colorful.” – anonymous

In Radiant Watercolor Portraits I will share with you my love for watercolor and painting faces.  Watercolor is a luminous and beautiful medium.  I love all of the happy surprises and magical effects you can create with a little paint and water.

We will dive head first into portrait drawing, watercolor basics, and value studies.   I will walk you through the process I use to create art that brings peace and joy to both artist and viewer. We will start at the beginners level and by the time class is over you will have the knowledge of an intermediate watercolor artist.  We will complete a minimum of 3 gorgeous watercolor portraits together.  I will share my favorite techniques and supplies.

We will have a great time splashing watercolor around in addition to upping our drawing skills.  Painting with watercolor feels like playing!  I absolutely love watercolor and that is why I love to teach and spread the watercolor happy with everyone!  Can’t wait to meet you!

You can watch the course trailer below…

We are so honored to create along side you and to offer beautiful artisan handmade items in our shop!  You make a difference in our family and all of those that create for our shop!

We would love to wrap up something special for yourself or someone you love!

The Everyday Artist {some of our favorite supplies}

When I create I only want to be surrounded by my most trusted and favorite tools and only the tools that help me to express myself.

Too many supplies can get in the way, distract and even help you procrastinate (like any of us need any help with that one).

Each time we offer you a new supply it is because it is tried and true in my own studio. I wouldn’t offer you anything less.

I wanted to share with some of the beautiful supplies currently in the shop.

Feel free to take a peek and ask away if you have a question…

Watercolor Paper Midori Style Art Journal

I don’t leave the house without an art journal to collect ideas, patterns, for practicing and trying new techniques.  These are the most gorgeous handmade midori style art journals created by a local artist.  The journal has 3 watercolor inserts. The cover is made with sturdy fabric paper with grommets. It is paintable. Comes with elastic closure and binding system. The art journal comes in two sizes.  It has 3 inserts that are made with 140lb watercolor paper (nice and strong for layering wet mediums) folded in half. The journal opens almost flat and is easy to remove inserts to work on and then put them back. The outside edge of the watercolor paper has been distressed.

Large Vintage French Ledger Pages

While traveling to France for a recent Living Studio retreat I came across the most incredible and large vintage ledgers.  I had never found vintage ephemera so large and absolutely stunning.  I can never use all that I brought home with me and I am parting with some of the papers.  The vintage ledger pages date from 1867-1873.  You will receive 6 total pages (3 of each ledger) and each page measures 21″ x 14″.

French Linen Aprons (full and half)

We have collected vintage French linens from our travels and we have created some of the most gorgeous art and life aprons.  These linens are soft, warn and ready to have a new life.  Each apron has two generous size pockets and extra long ties so you can wrap them and tie them in the front if you please.  Some aprons will even show some of the original embroidery.

We would love to wrap up a beautiful supply that will become a part of your daily creating!

The Beauty of France {Sneak Peek}

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

We took the children to the Littleton Historical Museum and they made apple cider, saw the animals, ate pumpkin pie, took a wagon ride and picked out their pumpkins to carve.

I can’t wait to show you the photos because it is like stepping back in time when you step on the land of this 1860s farm.

The rest of the weekend we were busy getting the new site ready for the new course.

Creatively Made Home begins in 7 DAYS!

Even though the class hasn’t started yet you can connect with the other members of the class because of the new social network we created.

The new site is AWESOME!

I only have a few more sneak peeks to go before the course starts.

Today I want to give you a peek…and just a peek into the content and projects that Tracey Leber will share.

Tracey owns the shop French Larkspur and travels to France multiple times a year to fill her shop.

Tracey is one of my closest friends.

After we had been friends for awhile I was able to finally stay at her home while I was on a trip to see my mom.

From the moment…moment…you step into the door you are surrounded by beauty and details.

Comfortable beauty.

Styling and entertaining is Tracey’s creative gift and I was able to walk through her gifting.

Each room was full of detail and little touches that were just right.

She thinks out of the box and incorporates beautiful items that complimented each other in ways you would have never thought of.

Because of all of her white I thought that maybe her home would look beautiful but feel cold…and this was not the case at all.

She has combined white with vintage salvage, linens, wood and furniture to balance it all and create a gorgeous space for her family.

It is one of the most stunning homes I have ever been in.

I was texting photos to my husband of their home the whole time I was staying.

He was laughing at me and I think a little scared that the whole house was now going to be painted white:-)

I have been back many times now and each time I see new ways that she has styled for the season or prepared her home for her family and friends.

She loves to make things beautiful just to make them beautiful….and it blesses everyone that comes in their home.

Here is a peek at the creative projects that Tracey Leber brings to Creatively Made (this is just a peek though)….

Tracey will talk about:

*Her personal journey with her home and family

*Her design influences

*How she found her own style and how she began incorporating it

*Share favorite recipes and photos of her home

*Have a live, online discussion with members of the course to ask whatever they wish about her style, home, passions.

*Share 10 project videos in different areas that are true to how she incorporates her creativity and passions in everyday living.

A peek into her project videos…

Tracey will show you how to incorporate vintage salvage into your home and also talk about what to focus on when you are starting to put your home together.

She will also show you how to make a muslin wreath that can be accented for any season.

Tracey will show you how to make the most perfect gifts for birthdays or Christmas!

She will show you how to make sugar scrubs and how to package up your gifts with all the little details that Tracey is known for.

She will also show you how to bring together a simple and beautiful table and other simple entertaining elements.

All of Tracey’s projects will be about the details, entertaining, gift giving and making your home beautiful.

Each time I get to show all of you what this course will be full of I get so excited for the course to begin!

If you are not registered there is still time!

We would love to have you join us.

Paris {Day Two}

I thought going to bed with the windows open and listening to the sound of the busy cafes below was pure music….

Waking up to the sound of the street coming alive was even better.

As we were getting ready for our day we could hear the streets being swept, carts being rolled out, children going to school and Rue Cler coming alive.

As we walked out of our hotel we passed open shops and street vendors ready for their day to begin too.

Our second day in Paris (this day with a good nights sleep) we were headed out for our tour of Musee d’Orsay.

I had wanted to see the incredible collection of impressionist paintings during my last trip to Paris and was disappointed it was closed the only day I had free.

It was a beautiful walk from our hotel and it was the start of a long day of walking.

We decided to reserve a tour to avoid the lines and to have a guide to get more out of the museum.

I am so glad we did and I always learn more this way.

After Orsay we made our way to the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries.

We loved the gardens, the fountains and even taking a walking break around one of the fountains and someone may have dozed off for a few minutes:-)

One of our stops was the Pont de l’Archevêché. We brought our own lock to add to the growing collection.

We walked from the Louvre, through the gardens, back to Notre Dame  and then all the way back to the Champs Elysees.

We stopped at cafes along the way and tried to soak in as much of the sites as possible.

As you are walking the streets of Paris it is all so beautiful that it is actually hard to believe that you are actually there.

I am walking around with the love of my life and we are in France…together.  Not too shabby!

Join me on my business Facebook page for “30 Days of France”.

Each day I am showing a new photo from my trip.

Paris {Day One}

When you touch down in another country you are most likely dealing with exhaustion, excitement and coffee shakes all at the same time.

You may also be walking around in a state of tired delusion.

That was us the first day.

We flew through the night and landed at 8am Paris time.

We dropped our bags off at our sweet hotel on Rue Cler and headed out.

Kelly had never been to Paris before so our first stop was the Eiffel Tower and then on to the open air tour bus so he could quickly see the city.

When only music was coming though our earphones we were drifting off to sleep being lulled to the land of dreams by the warm breeze in our face, music in our ears and the hum of the bus.

As soon as we could check into our hotel at 2pm we headed back for a quick nap and then on to dinner.

We walked a few blocks to La Fontaine de Mars.

We were early enough we didn’t need reservations and we were still pinching ourselves that we were in Paris…together.

Just like all meals in France it was long and leisurely.

It was perfection.

After dinner we walked back to the Eiffel Tower and found our place on the green.

We were waiting along with many for the hourly sparkle to begin.

The weather couldn’t have been any better as we walked back to our hotel {Grand Hotel Leveque}.

That first night I opened our large windows in our room.

No screens and as large as doors.

Below we could hear the busy cafes and the random loud laughs.

We could hear the clinking glasses and the shuffling of the waiters clearing the tables.

To our surprise we were able to see the top of the Eiffel Tower and we still enjoyed the hourly twinkling lights.

A trip that my husband came on to please me would soon change him and he would fall in love with France too.
