Salt + Light | Registration Has Just Opened for Our FREE January Study!

I am so excited to announce that registration is open for our next FREE study that will begin on January 4th!

This will be our third year that we start off the New Year with a free study all about growing in our faith.

This year is Salt + Light | Impact The World Right Where You Are.

Join 18 men and women for a 4 week free online study about Salt + Light: Impact the World Right Where You Are.

This year we have a gorgeous devotional to pre-order before the workshop begins. Imagine us being that organized! HA! First time for everything!

To pre-order the beautiful devotional that has been written by Sheila Atchley and designed by Jen Wagner click HERE.

The month of January 2017 will be full of stories in how the Lord uses real people in their everyday life, using their authentic gifts to impact others.  How showing up right where you are is powerful and good enough.  Too often we can think that serving the Lord or others looks like a mission field in Africa. Sometimes it is. Many times it is in your town, at your job, with your neighbor, with your child’s best friend, with the stranger in the grocery store and even your own family.

Let’s look at our placement, our gifts and our open invitation to collaborate daily with a God that is just waiting to hear us say…

I’m In. I’m all in. Use what I have and who I am. Use my brokenness and imperfections. Use my gifts and strengths and open the box that I have placed around myself and You because I desire deeply to do, see and be more. Not the tired more. The filled back up more. The deepest desires of our hearts more. The reason we are here more!

We would love to have you join us!

Our First Devotional | Listening

It has been months (way more than we intended) in the making!  Our first devotional is ready for pre-order and we couldn’t be more proud!

January of 2016 we launched our free video series Listening | Finding the Quiet on our creative network jeanneoliver.ning.com.

We have created a Listening devotional to use along with the free video series. The devotion is 94 pages filled with thought provoking lessons, gorgeous images and powerful scriptures.  The devotion measures 8x 10 with high quality paper. We have created this devotional to allow plenty of room for notes and space to reflect.

Here is a little information about the heart behind the series and the content you will find in the devotional…

Join over 20 men and women for a four week study all about finding the quiet in each day and hearing the voice of God.

The world can be so loud and we desperately need quiet. We need time to think, process, pray, worship, plan, dream, forgive, heal and find direction.  To just be still.   Do we give ourselves this time to be quiet and truly listen to the voice of the Lord?  Are you striving and trying to navigate life in your own strength? Are you tired?  Do you know that the Lord pursues you?  Do you know that he wants to carry your burdens? Do you know that he deeply longs to communicate with you and have a relationship with you?  Are you ready to find the quiet and listen to his voice?

If we don’t make intentional time with the Lord each day will it happen?  Our walk with the Lord is a relationship and relationships only grow when we make time for each other.  Each week you will hear Listening stories from the men and women in this study.  We will be sharing our own journeys of listening and intentionally finding the quiet.

This study will be open , honest and Bible based. We hope you will join us for this free online study!

To sign up for the free study go to jeanneoliver.ning.com and to order the devotional go HERE.

When Italy Steals Your Heart {Again}

As I was making my way to my plane at JFK my mind was focused on a sick boy at home, camp details I was missing, empty arms that I wanted to be in and just the tug I feel anytime I leave my family.

I had a nine hour plane ride ahead of me with the other teacher and at this point we were basically strangers.

By the time I got to my seat Stephanie Ackerman was already there and we had our first nervous exchanges which quickly turned into conversations and then laughter.

{photo stolen from Stephanie Ackerman}

Women are so good at this. We don’t realize sometimes the beauty of our easy conversations and our ability to get down to the good stuff.

{photo of Stephanie’s Bible journaling}

By the time the plane landed we weren’t strangers anymore and that time together had bonded our hearts together in sweet ways.  We were better prepared to teach the women waiting for us in Italy.

{one of my classes}

By the end of the trip Stephanie had made me laugh harder than almost anyone had in my life.  Laughter is my jam and this girl delivered.

This was my third summer back along Lake Como teaching for Laura McCollough and the familiarity of Bellagio was so easy to fall back into.

The next 7 days would be filled with incredible food, afternoons by the pool, laughter, creating, art covered hands, cobblestone walks, feet dipped in the lake, wine glasses lifted high, cappuccinos and cafes and excursions that made us feel like we were locals.

{photo by Laura McCollough}

Even those all of those things were like treasures to each of us this retreat felt so different for one specific reason.

Faith.

There was an instant closeness and intimacy because of the beautiful combination of art AND faith.

Our mornings started with opening the Bible and sharing our hearts, time praying with and for each other, dreams spilled out and hearts lapping up the sweetness of vulnerability, looking at our gifts and seeing each one as indispensable, each woman so different but the group as a whole coming together seamlessly.  It was a dream.

One of the last mornings Laura asked if as a group we could share pray requests so we would all have the honor of praying with and for each other long after we had gone our separate ways.

What started off with gathering the requests of the group became the women coming around Laura, Stephanie and me and praying over us.

It is still so sacred in my heart that the details don’t need to be spoken publicly but it was the evidence of the week we had spent with these amazing women.

The last night as we were ending our time together as a group and listening to the voices of the local Bellagio choir I turned behind me to Laura.  As I reached for her hand with tears in my eyes, “Thank you for allowing this to be a part of my life over the past three years”.  Laura’s heart for this area and the people that live here is contagious.

Laura has brought Bellagio and the people along Lake Como into my heart and I find this one of the most gorgeous places in the world. I know I will be back to Bellagio with Laura in the future but until then I will smile knowing that so many of you will be going yourself next year and experiencing the beauty of Bellagio and Lake Como.

If you know me at all you know this makes me so happy!

It is pretty exciting to me to be asked to combine my love of art with my faith!

There are few things that determine my day to day as much as my faith and the creativity that the Lord as placed in me.

Those two factors have everything to do with how I make a home, raise my children, run a business, love my friends, open my home and grow my marriage.

If you have taken any of my online art classes you know that I believe with my whole heart that our gifts were given to us to bring us joy, bless those around us and to ultimately honor the Lord.

I have been asked to teach art and to talk about my faith next year in Italy!

When Laura asked me to come back just one more year to Lake Como it was so much on her heart to make this retreat more her than ever before.

She wanted a retreat that combined everything she loved about Bellagio and the Lake Como area with her deep love of the Lord.

I am so excited to teach next year alongside the talented Stephanie Ackerman and to share my heart for women, the Lord and the gifts we have been given.

My mind has been spinning non stop thinking of the art, projects and devotions I want to share with you!

I already know that some of our time together will be based around the theme of “For Such a Time as This” and “Be An Adventurer”.

I can promise you that you will leave this retreat not only visually inspired by the beauty of Italy but also knowing more about who YOU are in Christ and where your gifts are wanted and needed.

More information about the art and class descriptions will be coming soon.

Registration opens TOMORROW for this brand new retreat and it will be unlike anything I have taught at to date.

{you can get a glimpse of what a retreat with Laura is like by clicking HERE and HERE}

A Sign, A Discount and Some Silly Faces

Ever since Creatively Made Home I get emails asking where I got my Love Sign.

(I had ordered the sign after I had seen the signs in my friend Edie and Paige’s homes)

This is one of the first things that you see when you come into our home (unless it is my messy studio).

I love that the first words you see when you enter our home is about how love should be.

I am not saying we always get it right in this house….but we try.

I was so excited to get another sign by Tara and her husband and this time I had something made custom.

When I was thinking what I would like on my sign I wanted it to be something that reflected our hearts.

We are silly.

We are a bit crazy.

We dance a lot (really badly).

We love a lot.

We laugh a lot.  A lot.

 But I kept coming back to this…

One of my favorite songs during worship at church is The Great I Am.

Worship time in church is where I feel like I can just be.

Be quiet.

Be still.

Listen.

I am a doer and worship makes me place everything down.

Physically and emotionally.

The first time I heard this song in church I had to grab my journal and write the chorus down.

Hallelujah
Holy Holy
God almighty Great I am
Who is worthy
None beside Thee
God Almighty
Great I Am

This is what I wanted our family to pass each day.

If there is one thing that is constant in our day it is our deep love and dependance upon the Lord.

Sweet Tara made this sign special and I couldn’t love it more.

Guess what?

Tara is offering all of you 10% off any sign!!!

Tara, I love my signs so much and love what they say and what they mean to my family.

Thank you sooo much for offering this discount to my readers.

You can see all of their amazing signs HERE.

To receive your discount just enter the code OLIVER10 at checkout.

What would you put on your sign??

If you order one let me know (and tell me which one you get).
