This month we are talking with Kimberly Taylor of The Grow Hope Foundation.

Kimberly Taylor shares about finding her purpose on a trip to Uganda that didn’t go as planned. She talks about the courage it takes to walk in our callings, even as we discover that not everything is going to be easy and not all parts of it are our super power. Being a mom to 4 boys, there was a cost to starting Grow Hope, but Kimberly talks about how finally being fulfilled and satisfied with her work changed the temperature of her home and the benefits far outweighed the cost.

We are talking all about purpose, calling and the impact it can make in yourself, family and the world. Come on over!

Some quotes from this interview:

  • As a woman you feel like you need to do something that has purpose even if you are not bringing in an income
  • I wasn’t taking into account my actual skill set. I was just taking what looked like it would be really fun. I was always looking for something that would give me purpose
  • There came a time when I was like “wow, I’m not searching for anything anymore
  • No matter your calling, parts of it are not your superpower
  • Just because you know what you are supposed to do, doesn’t mean it’s easy
  • That hope will spread. Hope keeps growing slowly. Slow and solid
  • Women change the world!
  • It is to the benefit of EVERYONE that women find something that speaks to their heart

This month we are talking with Shannan Martin!

Shannan is back a second time in our CTC series but this time we talk all about her new book coming out on September 20, 2016…

Falling Free: Rescued From the Life I Always Wanted.

jeanneoliver_shannanmartin1jeanneoliver_shannanmartin2

I have known Shannan since my beginning days of blogging and her journey (like our own) is a testament to what the Lord can do with your gifts.

It is a reminder that what we think we want and what we need are often two separate things. Thank goodness for the ways the Lord rescues all of us!

I have never left my time with Shannan without crying laughing and in the same breath feeling the powerful weight of her words upon my heart.

Go grab a cup of tea or turn this on while you go about your day because you won’t want to miss this incredible journey that the Martins are on.

I am making this interview instantly available on the blog but you will also be able to find it our our creative network under the Creativity Takes Courage series.

Stephanie is a southern girl through and through. She’s been married 26 years to her high school sweetheart and they’ve been in full time ministry for 15 years. With God’s grace, they have raised three incredible daughters who are now all married to some pretty cool guys and she has three cute grandchildren who call her “Honey”. After the dust settled on all the DIY wedding projects that kept her busy for the past six years, she learned to not merely endure the dreaded empty nest season but to actually embrace it. You can often find her enjoying Sunday naps with her man, group texting her daughters and driving across the country to hang out with her grandkids. She has learned the importance of being intentional when it comes to family, keeping everyone as close as ever even though they are all miles a part. She shares about these things on her blog, The Honey Pot, sprinkled with her love for fashion and her recent journey to a healthy lifestyle. Whatever adventure you may find her up to, her aim in all she does is to share the love of Jesus and the hope she has found in Him.

Over the past two years I have had the opportunity to interview some of my favorite creative women and business owners.

This month I had the joy of interviewing my good friend Kimberly Taylor.

Kimberly is the founder of The Grow Hope Foundation and I am honored that we had this chance for her to share her heart on family, passions, Africa and creating hope.

I have been friends with Kimberly for over five years now and she never ceases to amaze me with her knowledge of gardening, cooking and photography.

Her style is comfortable, timeless and welcoming.

She is a friend I have laughed and cried with, traveled with and dreamed with.

To see her bring her passions together and create something that brings her joy and blesses others is pretty incredible to see.

The Grow Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people around the world improve their circumstances through education and a helping hand.  Whether it is a loan to begin a sustainable business, bringing in wells to communities with no access to clean water, educating parents on nutrition and hygiene to prevent the spread of disease in their children or hands-on instruction in how to improve sanitation by building better latrines, we want to make a difference.  With your help we can give those in need a helping hand, so that they can create a better future for themselves and their children on their own.
