The Art of Seeing {A photography course}

I am passionate about being present in the day….seeing what is really there…being in the moment and embracing everything that makes daily life.

That’s where the magic is. 🙂

I want to help you see your life.

One way to do this is through a lens.

You will not need a ginormous camera or a ten pound lens to do this class. Any camera will do.

I will show you:

1. how to pay attention, set an intention for the summer, and avoid the traps that trip us up in the process

2. my favorite apps, supplies, gear, software, and online stores that I use on a daily ?basis.

3. basic DSLR info and ways to get out of the dreaded auto mode

4. portrait tips and guidelines

5. a few photo projects that can really help document who YOU are, and ideas for what ?to do with your images when you are done.

6. a very long inspiration list of photo ops to get the creative juices flowing

Paige Knudsen

I have known Paige since I first started blogging.

I love this girl!

She has such a sweet faith, so funny and her style is amazing.

Let’s Play Dress Up {Summer Beauty and Fashion}

I’ve always loved fashion.
As a little girl I would spend hours and hours breezing through JCPenney catalogs, cutting out images of the models and creating paper doll families.
I would sit on my large oval sized pink rug and line up my baby dolls in a circle, changing their little outfits depending on our imaginary itinerary for the day.
Our family wasn’t wealthy and I didn’t spend weekends at cocktail parties and celebrations, but I continued to grow up with a love for all things fashion & beauty, especially on a budget.
As a busy mom of four daughters I feel like I’m playing paper dolls & dress up even now.
We love to shop at TJMaxx & Marshalls with a little dose of Anthropologie when the budget will allow.
Cowboy boots and ballet flats ( and mile high wedges for them) are part of our regular playlist.
This summer I’d love to invite you to join me.
This won’t be a course on high fashion coming from an endless budget.
What this will be, is a time where I encourage you in your own fashion style, give some tips on accessories and the importance of having a young person’s opinion when it comes to choosing the right pair of jeans.
So climb in your comfy yoga pants, settle in your favorite chair & let’s enjoy playing dress up. Hope to see you there.
****** Jennifer O’Brien

I have known Jen since she lived here in Colorado.

She now lives in New York but our friendship has continued to grow over the years and I have loved watching all she has accomplished.

She is one of the most creative DIY girls out there.

She will blow you away with her projects and videos.

Inspired Decoration Ideas For Summer

Summer has always been one of my favorite times of the year.

A time to slow down, have a little fun, do some entertaining, spend much needed time with family & friends and make lasting memories.

We all want our homes to have presence & feel pretty but it should also be reflective of you & your family.

I think summer is the best time to capture your family’s “life” and moments you create together.

Decorating and setting the stage for family fun should also be easy & gratifying.

In this mini-course I will show you simple ways to use different materials to accessorize your home for the summer.

I demonstrate how to create weathered & barn board finishes to picture frames and how to easily change out your art inside them.

I will also show you how to build a rustic tray for those simple impromptu picnics to the backyard.

Lastly, I will teach you how to make your own photo canvases, so you can display your favorite memories of the season.

I hope you will join me for this fun and enjoyable summer series in creating beautiful handcrafted accessories for your home and capturing those simple summer moments for a lifetime.

Andrea Singarella

I have adored Andrea’s jewelry for years.

She has an incredible eye for design and her craftsmanship is stunning.

Vintage Trinket Jewelry

Join Andrea for a fun and inspiring jewelry course and learn how to create your very own unique jewelry!

She will walk you through the steps she takes to create her one of a kind designs, using both vintage and new beads, old baubles, religious medals and other found trinkets.

Andrea will share her own design process, from combining colors to selecting beads and creating a balanced piece.

Learn how to convert old earrings, costume jewelry necklaces, brooches and cabochons into charms, connectors and beautiful focal pieces for a necklace or bracelet.

In this course, she will demonstrate how to make all of the following projects with lots of helpful tips and techniques throughout the video:

* Wire-wrapped earrings

*Multi-strand beaded bracelet

*Ribbon bookmark with baubles

*Beaded necklace with repurposed brooch centerpiece

Anne Marie and Jason Klaske

Anne Marie and Jason have a charming farm not too farm from the area I grew up.

I have taught at her NaDa Farm sale and our little girls even love to write each other every once in awhile.

Their family loves to spend time on their land and making the most of what they have.

Anne Marie creates the most gorgeous garden each year and loves on her family with the bounty from their land.
The Basics of Bee Keeping

The course will cover a basic introduction to bees, beekeeping and honey production.

This class will be a great beginners class on how to start a hive.

For gardeners who want to maintain a hive for pollination or for those who want to collect honey, this class will give you all of the information you need to start beekeeping in your backyard.

Very basic knowledge on beekeeping is helpful but not necessary.

Jason and I will give each student a basic knowledge on beekeeping.

This beginner class is perfect for the backyard beekeeper who wants to maintain a hive for pollination for their vegetables and flowers, to gather the honey for personal consumption, and the basics of information for beekeeping.

The class will be set up like this:

Day 1:

-Equipment to buy to start a hive
-How to get a colony of bees and which ones to choose for your area/climate

Day 2:

– How to set up your hives and understand their construction

– The basics on feeding your hive when there is no pollen available (early spring)

Day 3:

– How to introduce your queen to a new hive
– What to do in case your hive ‘swarms’
Day 4:
– The best methods for working in the hive (including equipment to wear)
– A basic look into understanding the hive and the ‘language’ of the bees
– How to harvest your honey and the proper bottles/containers for storage

Day 5:

A few recipes to enjoy your newly harvested fresh honey!

Overall, Jason and I hope this course will have the students realize the important and vital role honey bees play in pollination so we can have food.

We cannot do without our honey bees!!

Courtney Khail

This amazing world of blogging and internet business has introduced me to so many incredible people.

I met Courtney at a business/marketing conference and I was smitten immediately by her humor and talent.

Watercolors and Flowers {An Introduction To Watercolor Painting}

Whether you’ve tried watercolor before or are a complete novice, this course will give you confidence to tackle one of the trickiest painting media out there.

We’ll begin with basic color theory lessons to get you comfortable with your paints and supplies and then move on to mastering specific techniques and tips you’ll be able to use in all of your future paintings.

Lastly, we’ll combine all of the lessons learned to create three paintings from start to finish.

Melaine Thompson

I met Melaine years ago at The Farm Chicks Show.

Melaine can make anything, has a great eye for design and this girl knows how to use the power tools:-)

For The Love of Reclaimed Wood

What do you do with leftover wood from a project?

At my house, no piece goes unused.

If I don’t have any leftover wood, I love the thrill of the hunt for old chippy rustic wood.

Whether it is from an old pallet, an old crate, or even out of someones torn down house, all this wood has so much history and character.

Creating pieces using it makes unique decor items for your home.

I will show you how to make picture frames for family photos or art prints, as well as custom signs.

Don’t know how to use power tools?

You will after this course!

Isn’t this an AMAZING line up!!!!

I am so honored and thrilled that these women are sharing their gifts on my creative network.

A Living Magazine {and a video for you too}

Before I get started I wanted you to see a video that I made just for you.

I wanted you to hear a little bit from me about the course and why I would even make it in the first place.

{and yes…I have bangs now…and I am really diggin’ them and so is my family…we need to get out more}

{to watch the video at the highest quality click the HD in the right hand corner}

In 7 days Creatively Made Home {home for the holidays} will launch.

I wanted to tell you why I think this course is so special and different.

In fact, as an e-course there is nothing else out there like it.

I feel like we are the best parts of a magazine…but better:-)

It has all the ideas and inspiration from a magazine but you walk away having connected with others!

I love magazines and have pages that have been torn out stuffed everywhere.

I have been collecting ideas and inspiration for as long as I can remember.

I have watched shows that have inspired me to clean out, update and redecorate.

I have learned new DIY techniques.

All of these things are fun and creative.

Even though I was inspired …I hadn’t connected with them personally, never had I been encouraged to think about what a home is really about and it had never opened my heart to the possibility of loving those around me differently.

When I first started even thinking about doing an e-course I knew I couldn’t just teach techniques…I wanted to share more.

I wanted to share me.

I wanted to share what was real.

I love to connect with women in person and wanted to make sure that didn’t change doing a course online.

I didn’t just choose other women to teach in this course because they had amazing homes.

You can find lots of women with gorgeous homes.

I wanted women that had a deep love of family and a heart for others too.

I wanted women that would be open, funny and honest.

Remember…I want real.

When you watch these videos you won’t just walk away with a project idea or inspiration you will tuck away for later.

You will walk away feeling like you are sitting across the table from a friend.

You will hear stories that will inspire you to be more authentic in your hospitality.

You will laugh at our mistakes and imperfections and you will love the women for letting you know they aren’t perfect.

You will also instantly have a creative network of creative women to connect with if you choose to take advantage of it.

You will have tons of inspiration and project videos in this course…but you will get more than that.

Here are some of the things people are saying about the original Creatively Made Home…

“Honestly, I wasn’t so sure I should take the Creatively Made Home class with Jeanne.  I thought seeing all these amazing homes and creative women might tempt me to feel badly about my own humble abode.  Jeanne assured me that anyone on any budget could find ideas and inspiration that weren’t out of reach.  She was right!   Yes, the homes are gorgeous and the women so very talented, but what I learned from watching, was that I didn’t need new “stuff” for my house. The real problem was that I had hung on to stuff that I really didn’t love anymore.  It gave my home new life just by getting rid of the old clutter and letting go of those things I really didn’t want or need.  I learned to keep and display only the things with personal significance, usefulness, and beauty–the things that make me smile.

Going through this class helped me better define my style and appreciate what I already have.  Now my home is a truer reflection of the beautiful people that live here.  Thank you to all the Creatively Made Home women for sharing your homes and for helping me see mine in a whole new light!”

“I have to say that the course for me felt like a nice Fall Day, warm comforting and inspiring. It was really such a joy to see all of the videos and I felt like a kid on Christmas waiting for the next one. The videos were in every way good for the soul.”

“I loved this course!

Two (of many, many) things I will take away from it are

 (1) that you really do not need to spend a lot of money on your space – shop your own house – re-purpose items – re-arrange.  And most importantly –

 (2) don’t be afraid to use your items, live in your home – the people in it are more important than perfectly fluffed pillows, artfully arranged throw blankets, and a gorgeously set dinner table that no one can use.

 I highly recommend this course!”

“Please let me explain why I am eager for the new Home for the Holidays course. Besides the fact that there is a plethora of great information and ideas, Creatively Made Home was designed and carried out by women that shared freely and were down-to-earth. Somehow each one made you feel like they have been there…that they know the challenges and the pleasures of creating “Home.”

The best compliment I can relay is that I revisit this class often to catch details I may have missed. But I also catch myself, when there is time, revisiting the class to simply reconstruct the experience.

I have joined almost every class you have offered because I know if offered in this venue, then the experience can be counted on to be a meaningful, rich, and rewarding one – and most of all, an authentic one. I can’t wait.

Thank you for envisioning this productive gathering place and for inviting others to help you carry it out. “

“The Creatively made Home course had such an impact on me that I don’t even know where to begin… you see it gave me courage, the courage to step outside of the carefully constructed walls which I can built around myself years ago.  The courage to take a deep breath and trust myself, to trust my instincts… whether it was the decor in our home or allowing myself to have hope again, to be confident, to embrace the things that I love doing even if it isn’t my strong suit, to take in the beauty that surrounded me.  I can honestly say that my family has enjoyed the benefits of the course as it is a place where they can truly feel at home, a home filled with memories and meaning! So thank you!!  For helping me to take that one step that has begun a new journey in my life… for encouragement and for introducing me to a group of ladies who have brought so much joy and beauty into our every day lives!”

“As someone who loves to decorate, has “house envy” and “design envy” at times:), the CMH course sparked several “light bulb” or “aha” moments for me.  I began to let go of my perfectionist qualities about home and delighted in the enjoyment of creating spaces of beauty that were expressions of me and our family; less about pleasing others or what they might like.

I learned to “shop” my home and loved going through discarded or packed away pieces and brought them out with new life.  I found beautiful touches for our home by going through old correspondence, notes, pictures and family memories.  For example, pinning a sweet love note written from our dating days to an old French linen hanging in our bathroom…incorporating little thoughtful touches that were truly “me” and “us” (meaning our family) to wall arrangements, table arrangements and preparing special dinner table settings….these are the things that CMH helped to cultivate.”

Keeping It Cozy {Andrea Fowler}

Do you know what an amazingly fun job it is to hand pick women to be in my courses?

Not only do I get to reach out to these incredibly talented women hoping they will be in the course….but then they tell me that want to do the course!

How did this happen:-)

The line up for the new Creatively Made Home {home for the holidays} is so beautiful that I keep pinching myself.

Each week I want to highlight one of the teachers, their style and why I chose them in the first place.

I didn’t just choose a woman because of her style…I chose her because of her heart and how she loves on her family, home and others.

This week I want to share about Andrea Fowler from Keeping It Cozy.

I have loved Andrea’s style from the first moment I came across her blog.

To me her style is a cross between French country, Scandinavian and prairie.

That probably doesn’t even make sense…haha.

She makes me want to run out and get chickens and make some biscuits with my kids in the kitchen:-)

Andrea was also one of the winners of Country Living Magazine’s Blue Ribbon Blogger Award (pretty amazing and she deserved it).

When you visit her blog her heart shines off the screen.

She is about family.

She is about home.

She is about making memories and creating a life full of what matters to her and her family.

She is about using what you have and thinking outside the box to create beauty.

Andrea and her family are creating a simply beautiful life together…and we get to tag along for the ride.

I have to share Andrea’s home with you because her style and lifestyle is stunning.

I can’t tell you what her projects are (sorry) but she will be sharing one of her family’s favorite recipes (it is so yummy), a decorating project and a gift giving project.

And on a side note you might want to make THIS for your family this weekend!

The Last Sneak Peek {Tomorrow it begins}

It has been so easy to jump up and down and tell you all about the four other hosts of Creatively Made Home.

In fact, I smiled the whole time I wrote about them.

Kimberly Taylor

Sara Duckett

Jennifer Rizzo

Tracey Leber

It is a little harder when it comes to yourself and maybe that is why I saved myself for last:-)

If you have followed my blog for awhile you know a few things about me:

I love my family, I love to create, I cherish my true friendships, I have deep faith and I delight in my home.

I love the details.

The details make everything yummy.

I shared last week what I really hope for each of the women that take Creatively Made Home.

{If you haven’t read it I hope you take a moment to read it…especially if you think this course will make you feel worse about your home}

Thank you to all of the women that sent me amazing emails letting me know how much that post meant to them.

It truly was written just for you!

The above link is my heart for the course.

I think as women we have the honor of making our homes the places of comfort, full bellies, laughter, safety, beauty, memories and so much more.

It is an honor.

It is the details that make life lovely.

It is the little things and not usually the big things that hold our hearts.

And because I am a sucker for the pretty parts of life too, the creating and the loving on my home….

Here is a peek at the creative projects that I will bring to Creatively Made Home (this is just a peek though)….

I will talk about:

*My personal journey with my home and family

*My design influences

* How I found my own style and how I began incorporating it

*Share favorite recipes and photos of my home

*Have a live, online discussion with members of the course to ask whatever they wish about my style, home, passions.

*Share 10 project videos in different areas that are true to how I incorporate my creativity and passions in everyday living.

A peek into my project videos…

I will show step by step directions on how you can alter your own lamp shades and make little changes (for next to nothing) that will make a huge difference in your rooms.

I will also show you all the ways in my home that I have incorporated the vintage linens I love so much. I don’t know if there is a room that I haven’t found a way to use them or put them on display.

I love decorating with old family photos and one of my most precious possession is the vintage silhouette of my late father in law when he was a little boy.  I found it in the bottom of a box and literally gasped with joy when I came across it. I can’t wait to show you how you can make your own silhouettes and how to even incorporate them into gifts for your families.

We have a lot of food and chemical allergies in this home and that put me on a mission to make sure that I wasn’t adding any toxins to our home.  I hope you will enjoy learning how to make your own natural cleaning projects (you probably already have everything you need in your pantry).

I am honored by all the women that have already joined Creatively Made Home and are anxious for the course to begin tomorrow.

You can still join the course.

You can even come and check out the site even if you are not registered for the course.

It is going to be an incredible, creative community.

One last reminder of what you will find in the course:

* Live discussions with the hosts each week

* We will take one of YOUR rooms each week and all five hosts will give design suggestions for your space

* Each person registered will get a simple entertaining e-book.  This will be for you to download and keep forever.

It will have recipes, photos and stories that will inspire you to open your homes and not worry about everything being perfect.

* Over 50 project and decorating videos.

* Real discussions videos about our homes, finding your style, finding contentment with what you have, true hospitality and so much more.

* Photos, photos, photos!

How Do You See Your Home? {early morning perspective}

{All photos were taken early in the morning before anyone else was awake}

How do you see your home?

Many times we see our home for what it isn’t and not all that it is.

That is one of the main reasons I wanted to create the course Creatively Made Home.

It certainly wasn’t because I believed I had the perfect home, the most expensive home, the best decorating skills or advice you couldn’t live without:-)

I am just like so many other women that love to look at beautiful photos.

Beautiful photos of homes, decor and entertaining.

Why do you think we love blogs, magazines and Pinterest?

Beauty and inspiration.

Many of us long to make our spaces lovely.

We do it for ourselves and to bless others.

Since I have started blogging I have noticed a not so pretty trend also.

I have noticed how seeing so much beauty has made many women feel bad about their homes and themselves.

I have gotten more emails than I can count over the past five years talking about this very thing.

Even the other day a women commented on this very course about seeing everyone’s beautiful photos only made her feel worse about herself and her home.

THAT is why I am doing this course.

I know we have been showing the pretty photos of the homes and projects because….We like pretty!

Let’s be honest….we all see enough of the dirty dishes piled high in the sink, dust covering our furniture and the laundry room with the piles so high we could climb them.

It is fun to show the photos and projects but the course is REALLY about the tagline…

“Creating a home that reflects your heart in everyday living”.

That has nothing to do with a perfect anything.

That is about using your own gifts (whatever they may be) to love on your home, your family, your friends…and even strangers.

I love things to be pretty but I sure can’t afford everything that I want!

This course is about letting go of perfection, focusing on what really matters, using gifts that come naturally to bless those around you, finding creative and inexpensive ways for decorating and gift giving.

It is actually about getting back to basics.

If seeing pretty photos of homes makes you feel bad I hope that you will come and take the course.

I hope that you will join a large community of women that are just like you.

No matter what they have or don’t have.

No matter what they can afford or what their gifts are…they want their space to reflect who they are.

They want to see bits of themselves reflected in the home that they care for everyday.

They want their family to feel loved and special.

They want their guests to feel welcomed and lavished with hospitality.

There are so many women that want to make changes to their homes and they just don’t know where to start.

I hope this course helps.

I really, really hope it helps women to be more content with what they DO have and making the most of what is around them.
