Let Us Make With Sheila Atchley | Early Registration Just Opened

One of my dearest friends in the world is my beautiful friend Sheila Atchley. In my life, she is trusted and true and one of the wisest people I know. She is a straight talker, deep thinker and creative soul that longs for truth and beautiful conversation.

It is with deep joy that I share that we are offering Sheila’s first online course, Let Us Make!

Let Us Make!

An artful, playful exploration of creation, purpose, theology, and story, as we rediscover them all in Genesis chapter 1 of the Bible.
Even though we are taking our text from the Bible, you do not have to be a Christian to take this course.  This course is for anyone who loves nature, art, and spirituality.

Together we will play with techniques such as abstract flow art, botanical art, and expressive portraiture.  We will try our hand at painting things that fly and things that swim, and we will “paint with light” at least two or three different ways.

If you’ve ever wished you could have an excuse to spend more time outdoors; if you’ve ever wished you could gain some perspective on your own story, and come to know for sure why you are alive, this is the course for you.  All these things will be explored through art and scripture, in a safe, nonjudgmental, even playful atmosphere.  I’m excited for you to join me in “Let Us Make”.

COME AND WATCH THE COURSE TRAILER…

Let Us Make will begin on August 7th, have 4 hours of content and lifetime* access. The early registration price is $28.

If you have any questions please email us at contact@jeanneoliverdesigns.com.

See you in class!

France | Where Beauty Is The Function

Jet lag is still my sidekick as I try to settle back into day-to-day life after France. These extra days of adjusting are also good for my heart and mind as I process once again the beautiful opportunity of travel. As I download photos, unpack my suitcase, wash too many loads of laundry, unwrap French treasures, and put away art supplies I am given the gift of remembering, honoring and reflecting on this time away.

I am a lover of learning so being a student is natural for me. I love to immerse myself into places, people and history. As much as I am most comfortable alone, with my family, making art and immersed in my books and learning… life has offered me the honor of also leading and teaching. This combination of teacher and student is the most wonderful worlds to combine.

Each person that I ever travel with teaches me more about myself, others, love, bravery, passion, second chances, fear, doing hard things and so much more. This trip to France for our Living Studio art workshop was no different. I watched beautiful marriages, watched families creating memories, watched women move on bravely, watched intentional acts of creating, watched friendships formed, watched so much joy and laughter, watched so many making art after a long hiatus, watched woman encourage one another, watched my daughter grow up before my eyes, watched people making the whole world their studio!

France taught me once again and this time it surprised me and encouraged me all in the same breath. France lavishes me and gives me a glimpse into ways I can make our day to day life more lovely just for the sake of being lovely. Maybe this is why I love France so much. I feel like the moment I land I dive into a color palette I love, live in and paint in. Each street holds a glimpse into something beautiful whether it be a doorknob or architecture. The parks announce to the world that this is a place that gathers and honors resting. The cafes bulging on every street corner beg you to stop and slow down. When you gather at a French restaurant they will never rush you so the next group of people can sit down. This table is yours for the night if you want it and if you want your bill…good luck. You may have to track down your waiter to actually get it. The art…oh, the art. It is spilling out everywhere and it may be painted along a wall in an alley, the sound of a quartet on the corner, sculptures throughout a garden or maybe the most beautiful and yummy croissant you have ever tasted.

After the workshop I had another five days in France with just our Madolyn. We would sleep in, walk all over Paris in the day, find good food along the way and watch movies each night. It was the most wonderful gift I have ever given each of us. This precious time of being alone and helping me see her separate from the boys will always be deeply woven in my heart.

On Easter Sunday I had ordered a picnic lunch to be picked up that morning and then we were going to take it to the green in front of the Eiffel Tower. As we unpacked our beautiful lunch, spread the blanket that was included on the ground and as I opened the wine I felt loved by this artisan that put our beautiful lunch together. They honored what they did and in their authentic way they were making the world more beautiful. I turned to Maddy and said, “This must be how women feel like when they come to our workshops.” It hit me hard. So, France also taught me that what I do is important. I am not just talking about the big things we do and the online courses but the day to day making things beautiful for myself, my family and those that gather on our land is of importance. It may not be to everyone but it is to me and I am proud of it. I also believe that when woman have gathered on our land to create art part of my gift to them is to make their time here beautiful and to put attention into the details. To help them experience beauty, rest and art if possible. France made me see that it is not just something I do but something I need to do because I love it, appreciate it and honor it. The world will be better when we each use our authentic gifts to make it just a bit more beautiful for beauties sake. Not such a bad way to function.

***Next week I will share more photos from the workshop and the art made***

Animal Antics With Tracy Verdugo Begins On Monday!

Tracy Verdugo’s Animal Antics will begin on Monday! Tracy has inspired thousands to step out of their comfort zone and to walk them through the creative process with ease. She has even inspired one of my favorite authors Elizabeth Gilbert! I love that!

Tracy cut back on her travel schedule as she focused on her body as she was healing through cancer. We love that Tracy is taking this much needed time to heal and that she is allowing more of us to connect with her art and teaching online. This is such a treat to have Tracy here on our site and I know you will adore her, her art and her teaching style.

“Animals are such agreeable friends. They ask no questions, they pass no criticisms” ~George Eliot

animalanticscollage

I think we can all agree that animals bring a deep richness to the human experience. Whether it’s the healing gift of a warm, purring kitty, the unconditional, exuberant love, waggily tail and smiling eyes of a puppy or the deep wild, wisdom of a majestic horse, animals speak to me in a myriad of ways, and I ALWAYS have something to learn in my encounters with them.

Please join Tracy for this one week class where we will find inspiration from our animal friends, explore techniques and creative processes to expand our imaginative approach to art, and play with acrylic inks, acrylics, pastels, charcoal, collage and more to create multiple works on both paper and board.

Together we will explore ways to find inspiration for our animal themed art, methods to create a narrative within our work and ways to connect with our audience by using our own experience and stories.

We will look at the value of quirky imperfect little animal characters and the messages they can convey and I will share with you the value of working in series and how I have developed that in my own practice.

We will do all of this together in lashes of vibrant color and loose gesture, and as always in my classes and art, seeking the magic that comes when you allow yourself to be free of self judgment and comparison, open to happy accidents, and smack, bang in the middle of flow and possibility!

Come and watch the course trailer!

The registration price is $48.

The online course will begin on March 20th and you will have lifetime* access.

If you have any questions please email us at contact@jeanneoliverdesigns.com.

See you in class!

Dina Wakley Ordered Chaos | Early Registration Just Opened

I have a huge treat that I am announcing today!

Dina Wakley will be teaching on our creative network and her course Ordered Chaos JUST opened for early registration!

If you had a chance to take the FREE Living Studio online video with Dina you get just a taste of how fun, easy to follow and colorful her art is.  You can’t leave time with Dina and not want to have your hands covered in creativity! If you did not have a chance to create the journals with Dina I hope you make time this week. The series is free and her art video is so fun!

Ordered Chaos with Dina Wakley:

I love the power of a single line. One line can tell a story, express emotion. I also love the collected power of many lines, many colors, many marks. I know, though, that our lines and colors and marks often get away from us. We over-do it, or we don’t know when to stop.

Over the years, I’ve realized that while my work is free, organic, and chaotic, there are actually specific things I do to control and tame the chaos. These control tactics help me make a loose, organic statement but in a way that is accessible. I often call my work “ordered chaos.” It looks free, and it is. It looks chaotic, and it is. But it also plays by some rules. In this class we will play and explore the ways to create chaos, and then play with the rules that I use to corral it into submission.

We will work both large and small, starting in journals and small sheets of paper. Then we’ll turn to large pieces of paper (or canvas, if you
wish) and created ordered chaos on a grand scale. We’ll do both figurative and abstract works. If I can do it, you can do it.

Ready to make a mess with me?

You can watch the course trailer below:

Ordered Chaos will begin on May 8th, have 4 hours of content and lifetime* access. The early registration price is $32.

If you have any questions please email us at contact@jeanneoliverdesigns.com.

See you in class!

Gathering Beauty| A Study in Still Life Painting Early Registration

We have been hoping for a course just like this for awhile.

We are so lucky to have Wendy Brightibill sharing her gifts again with us and this time she is teaching Gathering Beauty | A Study in Still Life Painting.

A peek into Gathering Beauty by Wendy Brightbill…

With Spring right around the corner, I am looking forward to the longer days and new life. I often feel a surge of creativity around this time of the year. There is something about the warm sunshine and gentle breezes that calls me to pick up my paintbrush and paint with abandon. With the promise of new life and all things green, I find myself drawn to vibrant color and painting flowers in my artwork. I have this need to gather and document all the beauty around me.

In this course, we will be looking for quiet moments of beauty to document and capture in our creative practice. We will spend time gathering all things beautiful and letting that spill out onto our canvases and paper. I will show you some of my favorite tips for creating a beautiful and unique still life composition. We will explore still life sketching on paper and in art journals. We will play with different mediums to create one of kind paintings and drawings. We will learn how to look with new eyes and really study every day moments. I will share with you all of my favorite techniques for painting floral still life pieces. We will focus on finding our own creative voice and how to express that on canvas.

You can watch the course trailer below:

The early registration price for this 4+ hour online course is $32 with lifetime* access.  The course will begin on April 24, 2017.

If you have any questions please email us at contact@jeanneoliverdesigns.com.
