DAY 1

AMSTERDAM

Arrive in Amsterdam today, check into your hotel and enjoy some free time.

DAY 3

AMSTERDAM – EMBARKATION

Check out of your hotel today and transfer to your ship. Later tonight enjoy a welcome aboard dinner. (B,D)

DAY 4

AMSTERDAM – HOORN

This morning the ship cruises the Ijsselmeer River to Hoorn, where you have a choice of three activities. The first is a visit to a family-run tulip farm, where you will learn about growing these flowers, tour greenhouses and discover over one million tulips in different colors, species and phases of growth. The second option is a walking tour of Hoorn, where you will tour De Halve Maen, a replica of the Dutch East India Company’s most famous ship and then stroll through this town’s beautiful harbor. Those that are more active may choose to join a guided bike tour through West-Friesland, where windmills, tulip fields and fruit orchards abound. (B,L,D)

DAY 5

MIDDELBURG

After cruising the Delta today, you can explore Middelburg, which boasts more than 1,000 city monuments, on a walking tour. Alternatively, you may explore the Delta Works storm surge barrier, which showcases steel doors that are 147 feet wide, an impressive series of dams and Dutch hydraulic engineering. Your last option is a guided bike tour through this historic city. (B,L,D)

DAY 6

ANTWERP, BELGIUM

This morning, you will have your choice of one of three different excursions. Your first option is a walking tour of Antwerp on which you will see Antwerp Castle, Grote Market, Brabo Fountain and the city’s superb architecture. Your other options are a visit to Rubens House, the former home of the famous Flemish Baroque painter, or guided bike tour. This afternoon, choose between a Belgian chocolates and waffles tasting or a visit to Floralia, an annual spring flower show that spans over 34 acres and features approximately one million bulbs that are hand-planted each year by the castle staff. (B,L,D)

DAY 7

GHENT

Today, you can either choose a full day excursion to Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or stay to explore Ghent. Bruges features many marvelous things to see, including Grote Market and the city’s historic center. Those that prefer Ghent will have a choice between a walking tour and chocolate tasting, with highlights like Belfry Hall, the Koornlei, the Graslei and the Castle of the Counts. (B,L,D)

DAY 8

ROTTERDAM, KINDERDIJK – SCHOONHOVEN

This morning there are three ways you can discover Rotterdam. The first takes you to see The Hague and then visit Delft, known for its canals, historic town center and being the manufacturing base for Delftware, hand-painted blue pottery. Alternatively, you may explore the Delta Works, which showcase an impressive series of dams and Dutch hydraulic engineering, or join a guided bike tour. In the afternoon, you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kinderdijk, a lovely village renowned for having the country’s greatest concentration of windmills, all dating from the 18th century. Tonight the ship cruises to Schoonhoven, where you will have some free time as we moor overnight. (B,L,D)

DAY 9

AMSTERDAM

We arrive in Amsterdam today. Admire the spectacular display of millions of flowering tulips during your morning excursion to the world famous 70-acre Keukenhof Gardens. In the afternoon enjoy a scenic cruise through the historic harbor and canals of Amsterdam. See the beautiful homes that line the water, the fabled Skinny Bridge, and the famous house where Anne Frank spent years in hiding during World War II. You can opt instead for an excursion to delightful Zaanse Schans, a small historic village just outside of Amsterdam, or stay in Amsterdam for a walking tour of the upscale Jordaan district. The ship moors overnight in Amsterdam. (B,L,D)

Let’s Make Art Together in 2016!

My travel and teaching schedule will be much closer to home next year but I do have a few extra special workshops that I want you to know about!

Registration just opened for Sketching and Sculpting and it is almost sold out.

Join me for a two-day workshop all about finding your sketching style and then incorporating your style into a sculpture.

We will play with charcoal, inks, watercolor pencils, pastels and more and fill a morning with some of my favorite sketching exercises and techniques.

We will then create sculptures using industrial armatures.

The whole workshop will be broken down into easy to follow steps so whether you are new to sketching and sculpting or you are an old pro … you will leave inspired and with pieces that you are proud of.

Teaching at Jenny Doh’s studio in Santa Ana is a blast and if this workshop is calling your name I hope you don’t wait too long!

In October I will be leading the Living Studio Along the Danube! This retreat only has one spot left!  If this spot yours?

We will be traveling on a luxury river cruise ship and we will be exploring and creating art from Budapest to Prague.

You have to read all about it!

If you have any questions about any of the retreats please do not hesitate to contact me at contact@jeanneoliverdesigns.com.

I would love to create with you in 2016!

Extra Special Retreats Coming…

I love to travel, explore new parts of the world, try new foods, take in the local culture, take my time in an art museum and find the perfect place to create.

Creating art and traveling has helped me to grow as an artist in ways I could have never imaged.

Recently, one of my students was talking to a group of women and shared about my workshops. Her words made their way back to me and she later wrote to me how much my workshop meant to her and her creative process…

“Jeanne Oliver is not just an art teacher, she is an artist’s teacher. Jeanne doesn’t just show you how to replicate the beautiful art that she creates, she teaches you how to create your art as an artist. When retreating with or studying under Jeanne, her art is not your primary inspiration, her way of creation, her way of being as a living artist is. Learning to make art with Jeanne is learning to develop yourself as a uniquely gifted artist. Jeanne teaches the art of becoming an artist, that is most clearly her purpose and call.”  -Cara

I have to tell you that when I read those words my hear was FULL because I have never just wanted to teach someone to make art just like me…I have wanted to help others to find their own way creatively and make art!

Your art can be writing, gardening, photography, decorating, storytelling, painting, cooking and the list goes on and on.

I am so excited to share that I have two very special art retreats that are coming up next year.

There is very limited space in both retreats!

Won’t you consider joining me next year and making time to connect with your creative self? It is one of the most priceless gifts I have ever given to myself.
